How to Enjoy a Hot Summer Fling

Forget romantic couples getaways.

Forget romantic couples getaways. With its long days, hot nights, and opportunities to take time off for an adventure, Summer might be the best season to be single. Whether you plan to plop on a beach with your best girlfriends, explore a European city with your sister, or even have a full-on family vacation scheduled with the whole clan, there's always hope for a steamy Summer romance. Relaxed and free from everyday stress, you'll be open to letting fate run its course as you get to know someone you never would have met in your normal life. And without the pressure to determine the relationship, you can keep things light and fun. Below you'll find six tips to help you make the most of a Summer vacation fling.

  • Test out the local delicacies. If you're headed to the south of France or a beach town in Spain, take a Summer fling as a chance to practice your foreign language skills between make-out sessions. Even if you're staying stateside, hooking up with the local in your vacation destination will give you an inside experience a tourist could never have.
  • Find friends with benefits. While on a vacation with your girlfriends, find a group of guys you can all hang out with. Even if there isn't a love connection with everyone in the gang, it will make your romantic adventure more fun for everyone and might spark lifelong friendships, or at least some Facebook friendships.
  • Go outside your comfort zone. Do you refuse to date bartenders in your own city? Maybe you have a strict six-foot height requirement for your potential mates. Ditch your long list of dating rules and regulations while you're on vacation, since the relationship has an expiration date anyway. You'll probably realize how silly they were and never go back to them!
  • Keep your priorities straight. Finding someone to hold hands with on the beach or cuddle with back at the hotel should not be the purpose of any single girl's vacation. You'll want to have quality time with your friends, family, or whomever you traveled with in the first place. If you do meet a special someone, keep in mind he was a complete stranger mere days ago.
  • Stay realistic. You might think your Summer fling is handsome, funny, smart, and sexy, but that doesn't mean you're meant to be together forever. Think of it like The Bachelor — sure it's easy to fall in love in paradise when you're not faced with any of life's real challenges, but once you get back to the real world you might realize there were a lot more details you needed to know about this person. Remembering that should help you keep some perspective and manage your expectations postvacay.
  • Be safe. This goes without saying, but if you end up having sex, be sure to use a condom. If you're going to a remote resort or don't plan on having access to a car or store, pack some ahead of time just in case!

Is Bob Benson the New Don Draper?

Who is Bob Benson?

Who is Bob Benson? The overly enthusiastic accounts guy, played by James Wolk, has replaced Don Draper as the most mysterious character on Mad Men this season. In fact, the most recent Bob revelations have us convinced that he may even be the new Don Draper. When Pete has Duck investigate Bob's past, he finds out that he's fabricated it — which obviously makes Pete (and us) recall Don's Dick Whitman/Don Draper switcheroo. This comes after a season of suspicion, including his pass at Pete on last week's episode, and Elisabeth Moss (Peggy Olson)'s recent interview when she told us, "If you think we've answered it, I don't know if we have. It may change." Interesting.

When addressing the character a couple weeks ago, show creator Matthew Weiner told The Wrap, "He's definitely a liar. I hope that you caught that." We did! Here are eight possible explanations for the character who seems like he was written for Internet conspiracy theorists. Just keep reading.

Here Come the Brides: First-Daughter Weddings

Happy (almost) Father's Day!

Happy (almost) Father's Day! We still have a while until our current presidential dad, Barack Obama, walks each of his daughters down the aisle, but past commanders in chief have played the role of father of the bride. In 2008, Jenna Bush married Henry Hager at the Bush ranch in Crawford, TX. Unlike Lyndon Johnson's daughters or Tricia Nixon, Jenna decided against a White House wedding. Later, in 2010, America was buzzing over Chelsea Clinton's marriage to Marc Mezvinsky, offering the most recent example of first-daughter wedding mania. After all, these events are the closest thing we have to royal weddings. To celebrate Father's Day, take a look at past US presidents who have walked their daughters down the aisle!

Your Guide to Royal Weddings

While many royal weddings don't garner the attention of Prince William and Kate Middleton's big day, they don't lack in lavishness.

While many royal weddings don't garner the attention of Prince William and Kate Middleton's big day, they don't lack in lavishness. This past weekend, Princess Madeleine of Sweden married US banker Christopher O'Neill in Stockholm, Sweden, and it was far from a modest affair. The princess was dressed in a lace gown designed by Valentino Garavani, and the designer was among the many VIP guests that included other royals from around the world, like Princess Charlene of Monaco and England's Prince Edward.

Madeleine and Christopher's nuptials were part of a long tradition of elaborate royal weddings around the world. Last year, the tiny country of Luxembourg treated its Crown Prince Guillaume to an extravagant affair when he married Belgian Countess Stephanie de Lannoy. The celebration, which reportedly cost around $650,000 and was funded by taxpayers, spanned multiple days, and included a guest list packed with kings, queens, and other royals from around the world. In Brunei, Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, the fifth daughter of Brunei's sultan, married Pengiran Haji Muhammad Ruzaini at her father's 1,700-room palace in front of 3,000 guests. A state dinner followed, and Queen Elizabeth II even sent her best wishes.

These royals make up some of the lesser-known but just as regal royals of the world. And just like the Brits, they know how to throw opulent weddings for members of their families. From the wedding for the future emperor of Japan in 1924 to Grace Kelly's Monaco spectacular in 1956 to Will and Kate's big day on April 29, 2011, here is a guide to the world's royal weddings over the years.

Attention Turns to Edward Snowden's Sexy Girlfriend

NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden captured the world's attention when he came forward as the person who leaked the top-secret government program PRISM, but now the focus has shifted to his reported girlfriend, Lindsay Mills.

NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden captured the world's attention when he came forward as the person who leaked the top-secret government program PRISM, but now the focus has shifted to his reported girlfriend, Lindsay Mills. "My world has opened and closed all at once. Leaving me lost at sea without a compass . . . at the moment all I can feel is alone," the 28-year-old wrote on her blog, L's Journey, before taking it down. On the site that was described as the "adventures of a world-traveling, pole-dancing super hero," Lindsay also noted that "sometimes life doesn't afford proper goodbyes." That could refer to Edward's decision to leave the country for Hong Kong before leaking the documents, a plan he says he did not fully disclose to his friends, family, or girlfriend. Through her apparent social media presence, Lindsay promoted her work as a dancer and posted photos with Edward, as well as some sexy portraits of herself. Click through to see what she's shared.

The Man Behind the Monarch: A Look at Charming Prince Philip Over the Years

Today is Prince Philip's 92nd birthday.

Today is Prince Philip's 92nd birthday. And although he's spending the day at the hospital, he was joined by his son Prince Edward and wife Queen Elizabeth.

Before Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth, she married the handsome foreign prince from Greece, who also happens to be her third cousin. According to Sally Bedell Smith's biography, Elizabeth the Queen, Philip came from a tumultuous background despite his lineage. Born in 1921 on the island of Corfu, he moved to Paris with his parents, Alice Marie and Prince Andrew of Greece, at age 1. By age 8, he'd headed to England for boarding school. With generous good looks and confidence, Philip made his way in England with the help of royal relatives. He would later be invited to have lunch with the royal family, and that's when Elizabeth reportedly fell for him. During World War II, Philip and Elizabeth wrote each other letters, and by 1946 he was back in London and making regular visits to Buckingham Palace. During that Summer, he spent a month at the royal family's Balmoral Estate, where he proposed. Their wedding was held at Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947.

During their almost 66 years of marriage, 61 of them during Elizabeth's reign as the monarch, Prince Philip has been as constant as the queen herself, although he's a bit more controversial, making quite a few insensitive gaffes. But when he's not giving the press an unfortunate quote to run, he's either by the queen's side, working as a patron for nearly 800 charities, or, until recently, enjoying carriage racing. Let's look back at pictures of Prince Philip over the years.

Are You Upset by the NSA Spying News?

If you logged on Twitter today, you may have noticed that #NSA is the top trending topic.

If you logged on Twitter today, you may have noticed that #NSA is the top trending topic. Over the past couple of days, the Internet has reacted to news that the National Security Agency is accessing millions of phone records each day from Verizon customers and data from companies many use every day, including Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, YouTube, Skype, AOL, and Paltalk. This week, the Washington Post and the Guardian both reported on a top-secret program, known as PRISM, which involves accessing the servers of tech giants, who denied granting access to the government.

In a press conference on Friday, President Obama defended the intelligence activities, which his administration claims only apply to people outside the US, and said: "Nobody is listening to your telephone calls." He continued, "You can't have 100 percent security and then also have 100 percent privacy and zero inconvenience. You know, we're going to have to make some choices as a society." So we want to know: how do you feel about this choice?

With a bow fit for a future queen, Sweden's Princess Estelle helped her mom, Crown Princess Victoria, celebrate Sweden's National Day at the royal palace in Stockholm on Thursday. The 1-year-old princess and Duchess of Östergötland, who is second in line after her mother, was also joined by dad Prince Daniel. Baby Estelle is one of many little royal girls who could one day ascend to their country's thrones. In fact, Estelle is the first person in Sweden to be born "heiress apparent," as her country changed its laws in 1980 so that a potential younger brother cannot supersede the firstborn daughter. As for Prince William and Kate Middleton, if they have a girl, she could be the next queen of England thanks to the UK's decision to change its succession laws and remove any preference of gender. As we wait for the newest royal baby to be born, check out Princess Estelle celebrating her country's National Day.

Hormonal options range from the ring to the patch to the pill, but what if you want to avoid the consequences, including mood swings, weight gain, decreased sex drive, or other side effects? You're in luck — different methods of hormone-free birth control exist. And if you have health insurance, almost all forms of birth control are free under the Affordable Care Act, aka "Obamacare."

I've rounded up some basic info — including effectiveness rates and pros and cons — on several different nonhormonal options that will let you enjoy freedom from pregnancy. If one or more sparks your interest, talk to your gynecologist about whether it will work for you.

Listen to Michelle Obama Take On a Heckler

Javascript is needed to listen "Listen to me or you can take the mic, but I'm leaving," Michele Obama reportedly told a heckler last night at a Democratic fundraiser.

"Listen to me or you can take the mic, but I'm leaving," Michele Obama reportedly told a heckler last night at a Democratic fundraiser. A woman interrupted the first lady to ask her why the president had not done more to stop federal contractors from discriminating against LGBT Americans. Apparently the heckler, lesbian activist Ellen Sturtz, had planned the confrontation on behalf of the group GetEQUAL. In a statement, Sturtz said: "I had planned to speak tonight with DNC officials but, as the First Lady was talking about our children's future and ensuring that they have everything they need to live happy and productive lives, I simply couldn't stay silent any longer. I'm looking ahead at a generation of young people who could live full, honest, and open lives with the stroke of the President's pen, and I was hoping that the First Lady would share my concern for all of our young people."

Despite Sturtz's intentions, neither the first lady nor the crowd, who came to her defense, were impressed. The first lady's supporters cheered when Sturtz was escorted out. This comes after President Obama was heckled late last month during a press conference on national security. The president took a different approach, waiting with an abundance of patience and telling the heckler, "We're addressing that ma'am" and saying "the voice of that woman is worth paying attention to" while admitting he didn't agree with much of what she said.

Listen to yesterday's exchange between the first lady and the LGBT activist now and just keep reading to see CNN's video of the encounter.

"Winning takes care of everything," claims the latest Tiger Woods Nike ad, but in reality, his comeback hasn't been so simple. After he crashed his Escalade over Thanksgiving 2009, Tiger's brand was in free fall thanks to the ensuing sex scandal. An apologetic press conference nor a trip to sex-addict rehab seemed to solve his image problem right away. And to make things worse, he suffered injuries and losses on the golf course. But now, more than three years later, Tiger's image has improved, he's on the verge of signing a major new contract with Nike, and he's the No. 1 golfer in the world going into the US Open, which kicked off yesterday. Tiger's slow climb into the public's good graces offers a study into the art of a celebrity comeback. Let's examine it step by step below.

Last night, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cracked up the crowd at the CFDA Awards when she jokingly pitched her own reality show to Bravo's Andy Cohen, suggesting the title Project Pantsuit. Along with last night's quip, Hillary has had more than a few memorable quotes since coming on the national scene in 1992 as the successful and outspoken wife of then presidential candidate Bill Clinton. She has had her ups — like her husband's two election wins, serving in the Senate herself, and now enjoying national and international popularity as the country's top diplomat — and downs, which include a failed attempt to champion universal health care as first lady, the humiliating Monica Lewinsky affair, and her unsuccessful run for president. Thanks to both the highs and lows, she is a resilient national figure, and it's hard not to respect her, even if you don't agree with her politics. Let's look at the advice she's given on topics like marriage, accepting criticism, facing failure, and standing up for what you believe in.
