We spoke with the Chicago-raised actress at last night's LA premiere of the movie, where she told us she thought someone was playing a joke on her when she was told she got the part — her first in a film. Katie also told us she thinks celebrity worship has "permeated" youth culture and talked about the unique experience of shooting inside Paris Hilton's home. The most impressive part of the house? Katie says it was Paris's shower, which is bigger than her own closet.
Paris Hilton attended the premiere of The Bling Ring last night in LA, where she spoke with us about her connection to the true story upon which the film is based. Paris was a victim of the real-life bling ring burglars, who stole clothes, jewelry, and family heirlooms from her home, and allowed filmmaker Sofia Coppola to re-create the crimes by shooting inside her house. Paris said that watching the finished film left her "upset" and "emotional" and that while she's never received an apology from any of the thieves, she wouldn't accept one if she had.
Gavin Rossdale plays a shady club owner who fences stolen goods in Sofia Coppola's latest movie, The Bling Ring. Last night at the movie's LA premiere, we caught up with Gavin and asked him what it felt like to be a public figure living in Hollywood during the real-life Bling Ring's crime spree. Gavin joked that the "16 Rottweilers" he and Gwen Stefani share must have protected them from becoming victims of the burglars. He also talked about how he and Gwen bounce creative ideas off of each other and "keep the mystery going" in their relationship.
Danny McBride is one of several stars of comedy appearing in Seth Rogen's directorial debut, This Is the End. We caught up with the actor at the premiere last night to see if we could get him to reveal some of the surprise celebrity cameos in the film, including details on one actor he gets to share a special "moment" with in the movie. He says they just started shooting again on the HBO series last week and that the new episodes of the show will pick up "several years" after last season's shocking finale.

Emma, who looked chic in a peplum top and slim trousers, is making the most of her latest visit to the West Coast; she'll also debut The Bling Ring tonight in Hollywood. Before the screening, we caught up with Seth, who cowrote and codirected the movie. He talked about yet another Freaks and Geeks reunion film in the near future. Seth said he and This Is the End's James Franco, who also starred with him on the TV cult classic and in Pineapple Express, are getting ready to shoot The Interview. The buddy comedy follows a pair of reporters who find themselves in hot water with Kim Jong-un in North Korea.
James couldn't join Seth and his costars for last night's premiere, but the cast still had plenty of funny friends and famous fans on hand for their big debut. Freaks and Geeks creator Paul Feig, Carmen Electra, Peter Facinelli, the guys of Workaholics, and Wilmer Valderrama all stepped out to show their support. The comedy was recently picked up for a third season, and the actress stopped by our LA studios on the heels of the good news, giving us her prediction of what's ahead for the fictional White House. Anna also reflected on her upcoming real-life role as a new mom and told us about a celebrity run-in that sparked her to return to acting — more than 15 years after she first rose to fame with My Girl.
Anna Chlumsky took a detour from acting after landing her breakout big-screen role in My Girl at the age of 11. She went to college, landed a job in publishing, and got married, all before returning to acting and nabbing the role of Amy on the acclaimed HBO comedy Veep last year. Like many celebrities who were child stars, Anna has been candid about her time both in and out of the spotlight. She says her retreat from acting wasn't entirely by choice, but rather because roles started to dry up as her body began developing and changing during adolescence.
The pitfalls of young fame have been a hot topic online this week, with Mara Wilson — who played precocious roles in Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda — publishing an honest article about the good, bad, and ugly aspects of her own childhood experiences in the industry. So, when Anna stopped by our LA studios for an interview, we asked her whether she looks back on being out of the public eye during her teen years as a blessing.
"However my life unfolded — my adolescence unfolded — is exactly as it should have. Sometimes I did feel muscled into not having work because you just don't get work as a kid," Anna told us. "But I think it is a benefit that I got to stay at my high school and have a Summer job at the zoo and things like that. It is a good thing."
Anna also talked about what sparked her to give acting a try again . . . including a run-in at a nail salon with soul queen Roberta Flack. "If a person like that is saying, 'No, you gotta stick with it,' and telling you to perservere and to face your fears of it, then you gotta do that," Anna said. "And that kept happening. There were other people that I would meet, or I would have a friend that would say something that just clicked, or there was a psychic on the street who said that I had to stay in the business. It became much, much harder to ignore that I personally wanted to try it again."
We caught up with The Internship's Vince Vaughn last night at the LA premiere of the movie. Vince reflected on reuniting with Owen Wilson for the first time since Wedding Crashers, saying his costar made going to work each day fun and surprising. Vince also talked about getting Google to cooperate with the film, which features him and Owen as unlikely interns for the Internet giant, and what it was like to shoot on the company's "crazy" campus.

James Franco's As I Lay Dying earned a standing ovation following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, but while it shows promise for Franco's burgeoning directorial career, its stumbles highlight his newness to helming films.
William Faulkner's classic novel As I Lay Dying is a famously dense story about the destitute Bundren clan and their calamitous journey to lay their matriarch, Addie, to rest in Jefferson, MS. The trip unleashes a dismal chain of events that leaves them all somehow changed or scarred — sometimes physically.
It seems fitting that Franco, an actor-slash-author himself, would combine his love for film and literature in his feature-length directorial debut. And he does an impressive job unraveling the complex narrative, which in the book is told by 15 different characters and jumps vaguely backward and forward in time. Sure, there's no doubt that it's ambitious for a first-time filmmaker to take on one of the most acclaimed novels in American history, but at least Franco's devotion to, and admiration of, the source material is clear. He does well capturing its Southern Gothic sensibility, shooting in the mostly drab colors of the Great Depression and drawing appropriately beaten-down performances from his actors.
